LANDOWNERS of Viseisei Village have landed a multi-million-dollar deal for the construction of a shopping mall and warehouse in a prominent location in Lautoka.

This was revealed by iTaukei Lands Trust Board CEO Aisake Taito during a talanoa session with Vuda district landowners in Viseisei this week.

He said a letter of intent was presented to the Sawaieke landowning unit and an agreement signed between the landowners and investors.

“We have had discussions with every stakeholder in the project and right after the signing work we will start right after that,” said Mr Taito.

“It is a shopping mall that will come with a warehouse that will have a cooler where we will store goods for hotels.

“There are plans to have a hotel as well with a cultural centre.”

Mr Taito said the facility would be constructed over a period of three years.

“We have not had a project that will be done within a period of three years that is this big.

“We cannot reveal the figure at the moment as we are still working out the costs.

“It will be built on 22 acres of native land, and the building is expected to be three stories undertaken over three phases.”

Mr Taito joined iTaukei Affairs Minister Ifereimi Vasu at Viseisei on Thursday (April 25) for the launch of the Tikina o Vuda Strategic Development Plan, the Tikina o Vuda Business Plan and the Tokatoka o Sawaieke Business Plan.
