Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School’s girls division successfully defended their title at the 2025 Fiji Finals, which took place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
They had a total of 20 gold, 8 Silver and 5 bronze, Adi Cakobau School in second place with 6 gold, 9 Silver and 8 bronze medal, in third place was Natabua High School with 6 gold, 1 Silver and 7 bronze.
Head coach Waliki Satakala expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in this achievement, emphasising the significance of this moment for the team.
“I like to thank everyone for this special moment, It has been great, many schools have been here before us, for us it’s a first time feeling to defend for the second year,” said Satakala.
Satakala highlighted the team’s dedication to their training, including their commitment to maintaining a healthy diet and following a rigorous workout regimen.
“Our biggest challenge during training, is the commitment of our athletes to be local to their diets and their training routine, and looking after their bodies well off training.”
Team captain Tirisiane Kiliraki shared her feelings of pride and honor in leading the team to victory.
“I’m feeling really proud and very honored to be in this team, and especially to lead the team in this years competition.
“Everything is all part of gods plan, and I like to thank the lord for being with us and for always giving us the strength and the speed to participate.”
Kiliraki acknowledged the role that their support system played in their achievements and expressed her appreciation for their unwavering encouragement.
“Like to also thank our parents for their support, for always coming to watch us train, and to the teachers for their support.”
