THE Lautoka Rugby Union franchise competition entered its third round of action at Nadovu Park on Saturday, A total of six men’s teams are competing in this year’s franchise format, Vuda Giants, City Steelers, City End Highlanders, Duavata Force, Sukanacagi Chiefs, and Vanua Crushers.
In the women’s division, City Steelers continued their dominance with a solid 37-25 win over Duiyasana. On the men’s side, Duavata Force overpowered City End Highlanders 40-13, while Vuda Giants narrowly edged out City Steelers 30-28 in a thrilling contest.
Lautoka Rugby Union president Inoke Momoedonu said the franchise competition serves multiple objectives including talent identification and strengthening relationships among rugby clusters across Lautoka.
Following three competitive rounds, Momoedonu confirmed that 60 players have been selected for the Lautoka Rugby Union’s extended 2025 squad, with plans to trim it to 45 once the regular season begins.
