A non-governmental organisation New Vision of Fiji (NVF) has joined hands with Island Medical Centre to provide free community eye screenings to people across rural and underserved areas of Fiji.

During the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing on Thursday, NVF chief executive officer Rajnel Prasad said the collaboration marked a significant step forward in delivering international-standard eye care services to those most in need.

“As an NGO committed to supporting persons with disabilities and disadvantaged communities, New Vision of Fiji has identified a growing need for accessible eye health services, particularly in remote regions where access to medical care is limited,” Mr Prasad said.

“This strategic alliance with Island Medical Centre will help bridge that gap, offering much-needed support and improved quality of life through vision care.”

He said the partnership will allow them to reach more people, especially in the rural parts of Fiji, and provide high-quality eye care completely free of charge.

“Together, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families who would otherwise go without these critical services.”

Island Medical Centre operations manager Umesh Mudaliar said they were proud to partner up with NVF to work together and help the communities.

“We will be doing outreaches and our aim to reach to the people in rural areas to provide eyecare services on their doorsteps,” he said.
