REWA Sanatan proved themselves too strong to defend their title in the open final of the 63rd Sanatan Convention football tournament at Churchill Park, Lautoka on Monday.
This is the third year in a row Rewa has won the Sanatan tourney.
Rewa beat Cuvu Sanatan 2-0 with Suva rep Shivam Shandil and Ivan Kumar scored a goal each.
The men in Reds led 1-0 at half time with the goal from Kumar and later lifted intensity in the second half to score their second goal.
Rewa beat Nakasi 5-1 in the semi-final to book their spot in the final while Cuvu Sanatan defeated Labasa Sanatan 6-4 in another semi final in a penalty shoot out to qualify for the final.
Rewa player Shivam Shandil was impressed with their win.
“We worked really hard, the boys did well and we thank our fans.
“Some of the players were left out due to injury but we worked hard and we thank officials,” Shandil said.
In the masters division final Nasinu defeated Ba 1-0.
