RAKIRAKI businessman George Shiu Raj says the town has the potential to invest in tourism.

He said the area dubbed as Fiji’s suncoast region in Rakiraki was already home to well-known resorts including the Volivoli Beach Resort, Duadua Beach Resort and the Rups Industries-owned Wananavu Beach Resort.

“And other small hotels are in the pipeline,” Mr Shiu Raj said.

“So, this is a good sign for Rakiraki in terms of tourism.”

Meanwhile, Mr Shiu Raj urged government to reconsider their policies on tax free zone.

“We are trying to tell the Government to make the Rakiraki from Rabulu area a tax-free zone,” he said.

“The policies of government must be relaxed, this is tax free zone where people can come and invest.”
