IT was a nail-biting showdown between Nakasi 1 and Nadi 1 in the men’s quarter-finals match of the 2025 Easter Volleyball Championship. Nakasi 1 emerged victorious after a hard-fought final set ended 25-23.
For the Nakasi team, reaching the quarter-finals was not unusual, but making it all the way to the finals was a rare and exciting achievement.
Team president Tevita Nasova expressed his elation at the hard work paying off for the team.
According to Nasova, the victory was a long time coming for the team, and it showcased their potential to be a powerhouse in the competition.
The team’s four weeks of preparation paid off, as they were able to demonstrate their talent, discipline, and motivation on the court.
“Preparation for the boys was four weeks, putting a team together is not an easy thing to do, the talent is around but the discipline and the way we monitor and motivate our players have to do a great job in it,” said Nasova.
Despite the tough competition from Nadi 1, the Nakasi team’s determination and hard work ultimately secured the win.
“It was a close score; Nadi 1 is really a good side, they have been showing their dominance in the competition, but I think our boys really deserve the win because they have really worked hard for it.”
Nasova credited the sport of volleyball for providing a positive outlet for the players, keeping them away from negative influences and motivating them to strive for success.
“Building a young team, especially with this generation there is a lot of drugs and peer pressure, this sport really gets them out of those bad influencers and motivate them to work hard.”
Nasova extended his gratitude to the supporters and the Nakasi community, who showed up in full force to cheer on the team.
