SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen ‘Jacko’ Jackson praised his side’s effort and resilience after their impressive 28-14 win over the NSW Waratahs at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.

Jackson said the result reflected the hard work put in by the players and coaching staff throughout the season.

“It’s good. The boys have worked hard. Doesn’t matter what week it is, win or lose, the effort has been massive. It’s nice to have the win, especially for the fans. The support has been brilliant,” he said.

Jackson added that the message to the players was simple and that is for them to keep going.

“We love playing here. We love playing for the people. I apologize to any fan that didn’t think we could stick in there. It was bloody hot out there, and the Waratahs are a quality outfit, likely playoff contenders. But we’ve shown we can keep winning and give ourselves a chance,” he said.

Jackson also praised young scrumhalf Leone Nawai, who stepped up after regular No. 9 Frank Lomani was ruled out for the rest of the season.

“Leone was great today (yesterday). He came in as injury cover and played with real composure,” Jackson said.

The Drua will now turn their focus to Moana Pasifika, whom they face next Saturday at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
