THERE will be a new champion in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League U19 grade as Ra High School Roosters pulled off a thrilling 24-20 upset over defending champions Naitasiri Warriors in the first semi-final at Garvey Park, Tavua yesterday.

The Roosters signalled their intent from the opening whistle, using a blend of structured attack and rock-solid defence to dismantle the reigning title holders.

The boys from Ra maintained consistent pressure, capitalising on every opportunity and holding off a late surge by Naitasiri to seal the victory.

In the second U19 semi-final, Ba Pro Dragons held off a determined RKS Eels side to win 14-10 in a tightly contested clash.

The Dragons relied on their aggressive forward pack and tactical kicking to control territory and tempo, and their defensive line stood tall in the dying moments.

With both Ra High and Ba Pro advancing, the U19 final will be an all-Western affair.

The Western dominance continued in the U17 grade. Sigatoka Valley Cowboys edged past Marist Storm 12-10 in the first semi-final, while Ba Pro completed a double celebration for the school by beating Nasinu Panthers 20-16 in a physical encounter.

The all-Western finals in the U17 and U19 grades will be one for the history books and a proud moment for Western zone rugby league supporters.

Finals are set to be played next Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi and fans can expect fast-paced action and a showcase of future rugby league stars.
