THE Fiji men’s invitational netball team has recorded five wins from seven matches so far at the 2025 Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (AMMNA) Championship in Melbourne.

The team is competing in the Reserve Grade division and has shown strong form against tough opposition.

They lost their opening match to South Australia 57-65 but bounced back to defeat the Australian Capital Territory 64-39.

Fiji then edged out Queensland 23 and under 58-51 and followed it up with a thrilling 63-61 win over Western Australia.

With three more matches to go, the team is well placed to finish strongly in the competition.

Netball Fiji says the tournament is providing valuable international exposure and helping players improve their fitness and game awareness.

“Playing two games a day is intense and just means they’re gaining so much more experience with regards to conditioning and lasting the entire game,” said Netball Fiji in an interview.

“This exposure is so important for all our netball High Performance teams in terms of seeing and understanding what’s required of them to compete well at netball at this level.”

The Fiji men’s team is using this tournament as part of its preparations for the Fiji Men’s International Series in Suva this August.

Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce earlier said the AMMNA Championships would help test team combinations and build performance under pressure.

Netball Fiji congratulated the players and officials on their performances so far and wished them all the best for their remaining three games.

The team has been on a high since winning the Men’s Nations Cup in 2024.
