Ba Football Association president Diva Singh says they had previously requested that the referee who officiated their recent match against Labasa not be assigned to the fixture.
“The request was due to questionable decisions he had made in the past,” he said.
Singh said he stood up during the match in protest, citing dissatisfaction with the decisions that led to two red cards against Ba.
“It was uncalled for.”
He said he was never guarded by police officers due to the controversy decisions made.
“All those officers are former players — we were just chatting outside the gate, including with Vikrant Chandra, whose wife is a nurse,” he explained.
Despite the controversy, he said the Men in Black are focused on their next fixture.
“The boys are preparing well and will definitely give their next opponent a run for their money.”
The side lost to Labasa 2-1 at Subrail Park on Saturday night.
Questions have been sent to Fiji Football Association.
