Nadi resident Abel Camillo has begun the process to register the name “The Lion of Judah Party” with the Fijian Elections Office.

Mr Camillo was a member of the We Unite Fiji party and contested the 2022 general election.

He sent a letter to the Registrar of Political Parties last week.

“On behalf of the core group for The Lion of Judah Party I wish to see your kind assistance in reserving the proposed party name,” said Mr Camillo in the letter, which he signed as Chairperson.

“We began collecting signatures and working towards the registration of the new party.”

According to electoral laws, a new party must collect five thousand signatures from all divisions in Fiji and submit to the Fijian Elections Office.

Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa had recently revealed ten new political parties had reserved names with them in addition to the seven registered political parties Fiji currently has.
