FIJI heavyweight boxer James Singh will be representing the country on the world stage as he prepares to face off against Australian rising star Teremoana Jnr in a heavyweight contest under the prestigious Matchroom promotion.
The highly anticipated match will take place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia tomorrow.
This fight marks Singh’s 18th professional bout, while Teremoana Jnr aims to maintain his winning streak with six victories under his belt.
Singh, speaking at a press conference yesterday, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the support from his fans and loved ones back in Fiji.
Despite only having two weeks to prepare for this fight, Singh is confident in his abilities and is aiming for a knockout.
“I want to take this time to thank God for the opportunity, it’s an honour to fight in this fight card, also like to thank my people back at home for their support,” said Singh.
He understands the doubts and criticisms surrounding his matchup with Teremoana Jnr but remains determined to bring the fight to his opponent.
“To all my families and supporters in Nadroga, I didn’t prepare well for this fight, I had two weeks to prepare, it will be a tough fight, but I think I will get the knockout.
“I know there is a lot of critics that I’m just a walk in a park for him, but I’m taking the fight to him, and I know that he is a tough opponent and I’m coming to him.”
On the other hand, Teremoana Jnr thanked his supporters and voiced his excitement for showcasing his talent on the Matchroom card.
He welcomed Singh to Australia but warned him of the tough challenge ahead, promising to finish the fight early if his opponent comes prepared to fight.
“Like to thank you (James Singh) for coming all the way from Fiji you got a bit of a task Infront of you mate, I hope you come to fight, if you coming to fight me, I will take you out earlier.”
In the main event, George Kambosos Jr will face off against Jake Wyllie after Daud Yordan was unable to compete due to medical reasons.
