THE Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence has recommended the introduction of an anti-corruption curriculum in schools to tackle corruption at an early stage.
The committee has urged FICAC to work with the Education Ministry to implement a National Anti-Corruption Curriculum (NACC) and integrate corruption prevention training in teacher education programs.
The committee’s Review Report of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 annual reports acknowledged that while FICAC has run awareness programs, outreach efforts remain limited due to staffing and resource constraints, particularly in reaching rural and maritime communities.
The recommendation aims to embed integrity and ethical behaviour from a young age, reducing future corruption risks.
