The president of the Suva Netball Association, Alumeci Vosararawa-Sachs, says Netball Fiji has not done enough for the associations that fall under it.
Vosararawa-Sachs said this after the presidents of 15 netball associations around Fiji signed a letter detailing a plan to move the motion for a vote of no confidence in the parent body’s executive committee.
She said there were other associations who did not sign the letter and that those who did sign respected their decision to not do so.
“There’s about three or four (associations) that did not sign with us, we respect their decision,” she told The Fiji Times.
“We do not want to force the association but the 15 associations that signed, they strongly feel that Netball Fiji hasn’t been doing much for us and it is something that has been deprived by the former presidents.”
She lamented the organisation’s lack of transparency during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Tanoa Plaza in Suva last month.
“This is my first year as Suva Netball president and (at) my first AGM with them, I just felt that they did not conduct in a transparent manner,” she said.
She added other associations in the West such as Lautoka, Nadi, Rakiraki, Ba and even the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association pointed out the lack of development in those areas.
“Majority of these presidents from the West, they strongly believe that the Netball Fiji office hasn’t been looking after their needs,” Vosararawa-Sachs stated.
“And it comes down to the development not done for all these districts around Viti Levu and also in the outer islands.”
Meanwhile, Netball Fiji stated in a press release on Monday they remained to the best interests of the sport.
” We assure our members and the wider netball community that all matters will be handled with fairness, and in accordance with our governing principles.”
