WE have a government that is only focused on removing the previous administration, says Former FijiFirst MP Alvick Maharaj.
Speaking in Parliament this week Mr Maharaj said the Government was now running out of ideas on how to fulfil the promises made during the previous election.
“The shortfall of 16 years was promised to be fulfilled in four years,” he said.
“And now they are trying their level best to explain to the people that they can’t do everything in just four years.
“When we used to say, development takes time. We were told, “No”, do it now.
“So please practise what you have been preaching.”
Mr Maharaj said gone were those days when one person could do it all.
“In democracy, it’s all about collective effort that produces the results.
“Group effort brings democracy where people’s voice is heard, whereas one person ruling becomes dictatorship, which results in arrogance and ego.
“We need to listen to people and work with people, rather than assuming if we are voted as a government, we have the right to do anything we want for the next four years.
“There was a perception that previous leaders were not listening and just doing things.
“And now we have leaders who are just listening and doing nothing.
“We need to get some balance where we listen to people and work with people to obtain better results.”
