FRIDAY 28/02 – Forecast for rain in parts of the country

A heavy rain warning has been downgraded to heavy rain alert for the whole of Fiji group.

Tropical Cyclone Seru is now a low-pressure system and is located to the far Southwest of Fiji and continues to weaken.

The Nadi weather office states a trough of low pressure with cloud and rain lies to the West of Fiji.

The forecast is for occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm in Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Kadavu, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorm with heavy falls is expected in the interior and Southern parts of Viti Levu from Momi through Suva, including Naitasiri and Serua/Namosi.

Persistent heavy rain may lead to flash flood in low lying and flood prone areas.
