Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalusima has appointed a new acting CEO of Ba Town Council hours after 34 Ba Town Council general workers went on a strike earlier today.
The union members had grievances against the acting CEO.
“Earlier today 34 Ba Town Council General Workers was protesting at the Ba Municipal Market, and this was circulating via social and mainstream media (Fiji Times Online),” said Mr Nalusima in a statement.
“As the line Minister for Municipal Councils, I went down to Ba Town to resolve concerns raised by council workers of Ba Town Council.”
“Key issues have been addressed and other matters that was highlighted by the council general workers will be addressed by the new Acting CEO of Ba Town Council.”
‘Under my directive a new Acting CEO was appointed effective from tomorrow, 27 February 2025.”
Mr Nalusima said the protesting workers will resume duties from tomorrow, Thursday 27 February 2024.
“I urge all municipal council leaders to continue root collaboration and consultation not just with your rate payers but also with your organisation to achieve the best service delivery to our people of Fiji.”
