FIJI Airways scooped two major awards — Destination Marketing and Training and Development — at the Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2024 last Saturday.
Executive manager global sales Kamal Haer said they were honoured to receive the Destination Marketing Award.
“I think it is just so important to Fiji Airways for all the work that we have done to promote not just Fiji Airways, but Fiji as a destination,” Ms Haer said.
“Fiji Airways is very proud to promote Fiji across all our markets and this is the celebration of all our efforts that the whole team has put in.
“I think for the marketing team we need to keep innovating, there are new markets and there is competition as well.”
Ms Haer said the challenge for the team was how to stay well versed.
“How do we keep expanding and how do we make Fiji Airways the best airline in the world? And Fiji is the paradise that everyone wants to visit.”
Manager service training and standards Joeli Qereqeretabua said winning the Training and Development Award was a great privilege for the airline.
“Not only on behalf of the airline but on behalf of the 2000 people that we have in our organisation,” Mr Qereqeretabua said.
“The first of our seven-game changer strategy is people-focus and people-development, technical training in the pilot space, engineering space, to the service training and our frontliners — our cabin crew, our airport staff and people who serve the customer through the telephone lines and e-messaging and service training is the strongest part of our organisation
“We are big on service, culture, education and mindset training that the entire organisation goes through.
“So, focusing and developing our human capital is a big part of the success of the airline
“Today is also a privilege for us because we are not a hotel, but we are the transporter of the 900,000 visitors that we have.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka also commended the managing director and CEO of the national airline, Andre Viljoen, for his commitment to connectivity which has brought the world closer to Fiji.
