The FIJI Water Flying Fijians Test match against Australia has been officially confirmed.
The Flying Fijians will take on the Wallabies in Newcastle on July 6, as part of the latter’s warm-up match ahead of the 2025 British and Irish Lions tour.
This will be the first clash between the two sides since Fiji’s stunning 22-15 victory over Australia in the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The historic encounter will take place at McDonald Jones Stadium, which last hosted the Wallabies in 2020 during a 15-all draw against Argentina. Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt while speaking to Rugby Australia highlighted Fiji’s growing strength, saying, “In their bid to make the semifinals, Fiji were just six points shy of beating England at the last World Cup in 2023,” he said.
“They bring a physicality and flair that makes them entertaining to watch and tough to beat.”
This is one of many Test matches planned for the Flying Fijians this season with talks also underway for a possible Test against France in November.
The national side is also expected to host Scotland in Suva in July.
