FIJI Pearls duo Matila Vocea and Reama Verekauta have joined the Terengganu Marvels netball team in Malaysia.

Both players will spend two months with the Marvels as the new season of the Malaysia Netball Super League Season (NSL) commences next month and is scheduled to finish in March.

While Vocea and Verekauta are now in Malaysia pursuing their new professional undertaking, this comes after a illustrious stint with the Fiji Pearls side.

Vocea who plays the position of goal attack or goal shooter on the court, has represented Fiji in the Nations Cup in Singapore and the Netball World Cup.

Verekauta, who plays the position of goal defender on the court, was part of the national side that took part at the 2023 Singapore Deloitte Netball Super League.

She spoke to Netball Fiji about what the overseas opportunity meant to her, noting how it would also mean they would develop further as athletes while immersing in the rich tapestry of various cultures.

“It’s inspiring to be part of a group that strives for excellence, and I’m excited to contribute my skills while learning from the seasoned players around me,” Verekauta expressed.

In a statement released by Netball Fiji on its website, the organisation stated the crossover would provide both players with vital exposure which would prove timely in the Finance Hub Super League campaign back in Fiji.

The duo will return to Fiji on Sunday, March 23.
