The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service has issued a reminder to vehicle importers on new requirements to bring in used vehicles into the country from 1 January, 2025.
FRCS states only vehicles Year 2020 and over for used hybrid vehicles and Year 2017 and over for used diesel and petrol vehicles will be allowed to be imported into Fiji.
“All motor vehicle import licences issued this year (2024) for hybrid vehicles that are 2019 models and diesel/petrol passenger vehicles that are 2016 models, must leave the country of export on or before 31st December 2024,” states FRCS.
“Vehicles falling within these criteria that are shipped after 31st December 2024 will not be eligible for issuance of an import licence, be considered a prohibited import, will not be permissible for release and be subject to re-exportation at the cost of the importer.”
“FRCS encourages all motor vehicle dealers, traders, importers, and the members of the public to obtain an import licence prior to loading and shipping of the vehicles for Fiji to avoid unnecessary inconveniences.”
