Athletes continue to show their dedication and commitment by participating in the weekly competitions organised by Athletics Fiji, even amidst the hustle and bustle of the festive season, as mentioned by Fiji Athletics head coach Albert Miller.
“As preparations for the 2025 season are underway, it is encouraging to witness athletes who are truly focused on their sport, despite the distractions of the busy month and the festivities,” said Miller.
“We got Athletes from Taveuni and Nadi have been actively participating, with the aim of providing them with opportunities to showcase their talents and gain exposure.
“The upcoming 2025 Coca Cola games are on the radar for many high school athletes who are putting in the hard work to prepare for the event.
“Weekly competitions will be organised to help them hone their skills leading up to the Coke games.
“We also have our first trial for Fiji Team on January 18, with three trials planned for the Mini Games scheduled for next year.
Miller says the focus is on attracting talented athletes to participate in these trials, as the festive season may pose challenges to maintaining peak physical condition.
“We also have few athletes who are in overseas one of our former throwers Milika Tuivanuavou who is based in New Zealand is trying to make a comeback in the throwing events, and we got Faith Bulai in the US, so next year will be an exciting year.”
Meanwhile, over 70 athletes were part of the Athletics Fiji competition, which was held at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.
