Two people died in a road accident in Sigatoka this morning.
Police said the accident occurred at around 2:00am along Queens Road at Kulukulu Sigatoka.
Police add the driver, who was believed to be heavily intoxicated, failed to negotiate the bend and collided with an electric post.
There were two females and two males in the vehicle – a male and a female passed away, and the other two remain admitted in hospital.
“We are calling on all drivers to be responsible while driving and to consider the lives of their passengers and pedestrians,” said Fiji Police Force Director Traffic and Transport Control (DTTC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana.
He said this is a second fatal accident within the area in just 24 hours.
