Swire Shipping Fijian Drua co-captain Frank Lomani is embracing his new leadership role with excitement and humility as the team prepares for the 2025 Super Rugby season.

Lomani, who replaces Ratu Meli Derenalagi as co-captain, will lead alongside Tevita Ikanivere, a partnership he is eager to nurture.

“Exciting times ahead for this group,” Lomani shared.

“I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a team over the years. These boys handle themselves so well on and off the field. They’re already leaders, and that motivates me to lead by action, not just words.”

The co-captaincy role is one Lomani did not actively seek but has wholeheartedly embraced.

“The management has been trying for a long time to bring me into this role,” he admitted.

“For me, it was always about just playing rugby and giving my best on the field. You don’t need a captain’s title to play well. But now that I have this opportunity, I’m grateful. To lead such an ambitious group of men is truly an honor.”

Lomani also acknowledged the ease of working alongside Ikanivere, attributing the duo’s shared vision and strong camaraderie to their leadership success.

“With the group we have and with Tevita as co-captain, the work becomes so much easier. It’s an exciting challenge, and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

With Lomani’s focus on leading through actions and fostering ambition within the team, the Fijian Drua aims for another strong showing in Super Rugby under his guidance.
