THE second leg of the Fijian Cup rugby festival ended yesterday, following a two-day spectacle of local and international teams clashing in the game of rugby sevens at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
In the open men’s category, Island Magic Daveta defeated Ratu Filise 19-7 to emerge as winners after a 10-all draw against Vunavutu in the semi final.
For the open women’s, Tuva handed the Full Send Pink a 21-5 ticket of defeat following a gallant progression from the pool stages on Friday and into the elimination stages yesterday.
In the under 85kg category, Tovolea lived up to its name and successfully attempted a 12-7 victory against Senibiau.
Nahigatoka triumphantly defeated Cuvu Black 17-7 to win the legends category and was the icing on the cake for the team following a significant defeat made in the pool and elimination stages as well.
Pat Spellman, a representative of Tourism HQ which is the key organising entity of the Fijian Cup, highlighted the vitality of the tournament for the local and international teams.
The Fijian Cup concludes next week with rugby league nines at Lawaqa Park as well.
