5.3% Consumer Price Index for Oct 2024

CPI index released by Fiji Bureau of Statistics – SUPPLIED

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of October was recorded at 5.3%, the Fiji Bureau of Statistics has reported.

CPI is compiled to indicate average changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by households nationwide with monthly price collections carried out in the urban areas of Suva, Lami, Nasinu, Nausori, Lautoka, Nadi, Ba and Labasa.

Fiji Bureau of Statistics states the average for the 12 months from November 2022 – October 2023 stands at 5.3 percent while the month-on-month inflation rate, compared with October 2023 stands at 3.6 percent.

  • Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.4%)
  • Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (+0.2%) Higher prices were recorded for yaqona.
  • Restaurants and hotels (+0.1%) Higher prices were recorded for restaurants, cafes & the like.
  • Health (0.1%) Higher prices were recorded for pharmaceutical products and other medical products.
  • Food & non-alcoholic beverages (+0.1%) Higher prices were recorded for bread & cereals, oils & fats, fruits, vegetables, confectioneries, food products not elsewhere classified and non-alcoholic beverages such as coffee, tea & cocoa.
