For the first time in Coral Coast sevens history, Samoa’s national sevens team will take the field at the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast sevens.

The side will be joining an elite lineup that includes reigning champions Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and the USA Falcons.

The three-day tournament, scheduled for January 16-18 at Lawaqa park in Sigatoka, is set to showcase top-level rugby and draw excitement from fans eager to see the Samoan squad make its debut.

Jay White, founding chairman of the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast sevens, have welcomed Samoa’s arrival, calling it a “landmark moment” that brings a fresh challenge to Fiji and the region’s rugby powerhouses. They anticipate the tournament will provide valuable experience for the Samoan team as they prepare for the World Rugby challenger series in February.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Samoan sevens team to the Coral Coast for the first time, and we know that they will be a fan favourite with the rugby-loving fans of Fiji,” said White.

“Our brothers from Samoa are rebuilding their sevens program, and we stand ready to help them retain their place on the world stage when they participate in the Challenger Series in February 2025.”

Fans will have a chance to watch Samoa’s squad in action, adding further excitement to an event that has become a premier fixture on the Fiji sporting calendar.

Tickets are now on sale for the three-day tournament.
