FIJI Futsal head coach Jerry Sam has announced his intention to closely monitor players at this year’s Extra Supermarket Futsal IDC competition for potential inclusion in future futsal programs.
Sam has confirmed that he will be observing players throughout the three-day tournament to identify candidates who could join the national team.
According to Sam, the Futsal IDC is known for its tough and competitive nature, providing an ideal platform for players to showcase their talents.
He expressed his enthusiasm for discovering and nurturing players who may have previously gone unnoticed, emphasising the importance of identifying talent early on to develop prospects.
“As we all know, the Futsal IDC is always tough and competitive, and that’s exactly the environment we need to see player’s shine. I’m especially eager to find and develop players who might otherwise go unnoticed,” said Sam.
“For me as a head coach, I have to do my part as to identify players now so that we can put them in a program for years to come.”
The competition will feature eight teams from across the country, and Sam encouraged futsal fans to show their support for their favourite teams.
The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva from November 13th to the 16th, offering players a platform to shine and potentially pave their way to representing Fiji on the international stage.
