FAMILIES wishing to secure schooling assistance for their children can send in applications to the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) Fiji, as closing dates have been extended to November 15.
FENC Fiji head of operations Nirmala Nambiar said they were appreciative of the support shown by Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management.
She said the ministry had offered to help with the child education support scheme forms from their offices.
“This year, the Government has once again approved a grant of $300,000 to assist FENC Fiji not only with its support for back-to-school assistance,” Ms Nambiar said.
This assistance, she said, also extended to setting up learning centres and setting up offices for support in other areas like Labasa and the Western Division to provide after school tutoring and counselling services.
“We have to put all our children to school, in particular those in the midst of the drug cases right now, and groom them to be great and successful citizens and we are happy to play the role as a NGO to support our children in this.
“Our objective is the national goal to help them ‘Say No to Drugs’ and make a better future by going to school.”
Completed applications can be dropped at various district or divisional offices.
It can also be sent in via mail to FENC Fiji, PO Box 2201, Government Buildings, Suva, or dropped off directly at their office at 20 Matuku St, Samabula.
