Government spent more than $35million in the Tailevu province during the 2023 to 2024 financial year.
According to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, more than $17million was spent by the Water Authority of Fiji for various water projects within the province.
While opening the two-day Tailevu Provincial Council meeting, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said government’s future plan for the province and the rest of the country was included in the newly launched National Development Plan.
He said this was reflected in the Integrated Village Development Plan which would be used for all villages across the country.
Mr Rabuka highlighted a number of projects that has been carried out within the province so far.
He said these included the establishment of strategic plans at the village, district, provincial and government levels.
The Prime Minister said one of their core focuses would be good governance to ensure the selection of traditional leaders that would prioritise their people and community development and empowerment.
He said the development of health services within the province included a new general outpatient unit at the Korovou Health Center.
