FIJI Day is a time for reflection and appreciation of our common history, our rich culture, and our diversity, says Leader of Opposition Inia Seruiratu.
Mr Seruiratu, who is presently in Geneva, Switzerland, with Parliament Speaker Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu at the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, passed on his felicitations to Fijians on the occasion.
“I join with all Fijians in the celebration of our national birthday and extend my best wishes to each and every citizen,” he said.
“Let us celebrate Fiji Day with joy and pride. Let us cherish our rich diversity and our resilience. Let us commit to keeping Fiji strong and united.
“Let us forge a brighter common future for all, never deviating from our democratic principles and love for all in Fiji without exception.”
Meanwhile, Mr Seruiratu also announced fellow member of Parliament Parveen Kumar Bala as the deputy leader of the Group of 16 Opposition MPs.
“Honourable Bala brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving our nation. While I am out of the country, he will be leading our group here in Fiji.”
