Rewa FC had a successful finish in the Digicel Fiji Premier League after defeating Ba 3-1 at Govind Park in Ba yesterday.
The Delta Tigers started strong in the opening minutes of the first half, taking the lead in the 22nd minute with a well-placed goal from Asivorosi Rabo.
Despite Rewa’s early dominance, Ba fought back and found the equaliser in the 42nd minute when Penaia Nagatalevu headed in a cross from Penisoni Tirau. The first half ended with both teams locked at 1-1 draw.
Just two minutes into the second half, Rewa regained their lead with a quick strike from Rabo in the 47th minute.
The early goal put Rewa back on top, as Rabo capitalised on a defensive lapse by Ba to make it 2-1, adding to the intensity of the match.
Rewa kept to their strong defence tactics and discipline to extend their lead through their third goal through penalty by Tevita Waranivalu and seal the day with a 3-1 win.
Rewa coach Rodeck Singh thanked the boys for their hardwork.
“First we thank God Almighty for the win and our players for stepping in we knew the match will be tough against Ba,” he said.
Ba coach Timoci Seru said they missed a lot of opportunities.
“We had a lot of opportunities but the boys missed it, and that is one area we will have to work on for the IDC,” Seru said.
