After changes in the Government’s position on how the Paris Olympics silver medalist bonuses will be paid, this newspaper was reliably informed the players have received their promised $20,000.
The Ministry of Sports’ original plan was for the Ministry of Finance to transfer the money directly to the players.
It was later suggested that the funds would go through the Fiji Rugby Union.
Head coach Osea Kolinisau has confirmed that the players had received their money.
“Yes,” he said when asked.
The Fiji men’s team is going through intensive gym sessions as they prepare for their first outing in the 2024-25 HSBC SVNS at the Dubai 7s tournament on November 30-December 1 at Sevens Stadium.
