The Rewa Football Club is heading into a crucial match against Nadi in round 17 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League with the league title hanging in the balance.
Roderick Singh, the head coach of Rewa FC said the match was very important and highlighted that a win could very likely secure them the league championship for the year.

Following a commanding 2-0 victory over Lautoka in Round 16, the team now has just two matches left to claim the 2024 league title.

Singh said he was satisfied with the team’s current preparations and acknowledged the challenges they faced over the past week with two important games remaining.

The coach said the players had coped during the intense training sessions as they prepared as stakes were high with the league title up for grabs.

“The preparations are going in well, we are coming off a tough week, with two games remaining, so we are in hard training sessions, knowing that the league is on the line,” said Singh.

“If we win this match, we surely win the league, so it’s an all-important game for us, we really have to dig deep, to ensure that the league remains with Rewa this year.”

Singh said there was a need for continued improvement, particularly in game management and capitalising on scoring opportunities.

In the match against Nadi, he said the side needed to be strong.

“Special focus is being placed on enhancing their finishing skills and tightening up their defense to counter the opponent’s threats,” he said.

“For sure with two games left surely gunning to win the national league, it’s all important for us to win the league, and to really play well against Nadi.

He said despite facing two injuries within the squad, the team was actively assessing the situation to determine the best lineup.

“We have two injuries in the side, but we are assessing it and seeing it, and from there we can pick on and see who makes the line up for this match against Nadi.

Singh said Nadi was a formidable opponent and had talented young players and past successes in competitions such as the Battle of the Giants.

“Nadi will be a tough side, they got young players, and they also did well in the Battle of the Giants competition, so it will be a great match.”

He said key players such as William Valentine and Tuibaba were identified as crucial assets who had the potential to make a significant impact in the upcoming match against Nadi.

Singh has called Rewa’s loyal fans to show their support at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The match is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday.
