Racing 92 winger Vinaya Habosi has been taken into police custody in Clamart, Hauts-de-Seine in Paris, France, following allegations of violence against his wife.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, the Fijian international was arrested on Sunday evening while intoxicated.
Witnesses reported an argument in which Habosi, 24, allegedly pushed his wife, who was holding their child, leading to her falling and suffering blows to the back of her head.
The report says the baby was unharmed, and the wife, who had no visible injuries, declined medical assistance from firefighters.
At the time of his arrest, Habosi registered a blood alcohol level of 1.05 mg/L of air.
The report goes on to say Habosi admitted to the dispute but denied pushing or hitting his wife.
Habosi, who joined Racing 92 in 2023 from Fiji and represented his country in the 2023 World Cup, is facing legal repercussions following this incident.
Meanwhile, there were reports of Habosi allegedly assaulting his partner in Fiji early last year as well.
Before any charges were laid, the former Fijian Drua flyer had left for France to join Racing 92.
The Drua had cut Habosi’s contract, a week after the allegations of assault had surfaced.
He was later named in the Flying Fijians team in June, 2023 by the then coach Simon Raiwalui.
