Farmers, school children and the public are encouraged to attend the National Agriculture Show which will be held at the Valelevu grounds next month.

With the theme ‘Empowering Farmers, Cultivating Resilience through Innovation and Inclusiveness in Climate Smart Agriculture’, the show will be held over three days starting on October 15.

Minister for Agriculture Vatimi Rayalu said the event would bring together farmers, industry leaders, agricultural experts, and enthusiasts from across the nation to celebrate the latest advancements in agriculture and sustainable practices.

“This year, we will hold side events where members of the public can participate in hands-on sessions and discussions led by experts on topics ranging from soil health to smart farming techniques,” Mr Rayalu said.

“Farmers village will also be set up at the grounds which is expected to draw farmers from across Fiji where they will be able to showcase their produce and value-added products.

“This year we will also model new livestock breeds such as our beef breeds (Wagyu, Senepol, Brown Swiss and Droughtmaster) and the same also goes for our pigs, sheep, and goats).

“We will be showcasing the services that we provide on a daily basis in our stations across Fiji, and also educate the general public on the importance of agriculture and how we must work together to grow the agricultural sector in the country.

“The Animal and Production Division will be demonstrating several key aspects of their work like Urea Molasses Block and silage making, the wonders of biogas, electrical fencing, semen collection for boars as well as a pet show which will be coordinated with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.”
