The Hibiscus Festival 2024 revitalised the streets of Suva City, bringing a vibrant energy back to the community.
This sentiment was shared by the chairman of the Hibiscus Festival Opetaia Ravai who expressed his deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event’s success.
The festival concluded yesterday with a float procession, where the queens and their teams braved heavy rain through Suva City.
Mr Ravai noted that Suva was in great need of such an event, especially after the challenges faced since the pandemic.
“We hope everyone enjoyed the week of activities,” he said.
“Suva needed something like this after a five-year pause, and I believe it has been a positive development.”
Looking ahead, he expressed optimism for future festivals saying, “There’s always room for improvement and I’m confident that the Hibiscus Festival will continue to grow, offering even more enjoyment for everyone.”
Hundreds of people crowded the streets of Suva, from the Flea Market to Ratu Sukuna Park to watch the float procession.
Meanwhile, strong gusts earlier in the morning had ripped the corrugated iron off a stall, bringing into question the integrity of stalls at the festival.
No word was received from the officials on what had transpired.
