The Fiji Women’s Futsal team came in second place in the inaugural OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup after a tough defeat against New Zealand in the final match held in the Solomon Islands on Sunday.

The team displayed well in the start of the game, but struggled in the second half, allowing New Zealand to take control and dominate the game.

New Zealand took an early lead with a goal from Hannah Kraakman. Libby Boobyer then scored a powerful shot from the edge of the box, increasing New Zealand’s lead. Fiji managed to get on the scoreboard just before halftime with Koleta Likuculacula’s impressive left-footed shot, reducing the gap to one goal at 2-1 in favor of New Zealand.

In the second half, New Zealand continued to dominate, scoring goals from Tessa Leong, Libby Boobyer, Jordana Bremner, and Dayna Manak, extending their lead to 6-1.

New Zealand won the title and secured a spot in the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 in the Philippines.
