Fiji is seeking collaboration with China in a number of areas.
These include enhancing sustainable aquaculture practices, marine and ecological conservation, knowledge-sharing and capacity building.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka highlighted this during his visit to Ninghai Village in Ningde, Fujian Province last week.
He said Fiji showed interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration with China in ecological conservation, eco-friendly aquaculture, and fish farming to boost development in its fisheries sector.
Mr Rabuka said coastal communities and the fisheries sector could greatly benefit from learning more and implementing marine fish farming projects.
He also toured the Ningde Poverty Alleviation and Development Exhibition Hall in Nignde City, Fujian Province.
“Fiji is committed to addressing poverty through specific initiatives under the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection, including poverty benefits and social pension schemes, care and protection and food voucher programs, to name a few,” Mr Rabuka said.
He added that Fiji had much to learn from the tailor-made poverty alleviation strategies from China to enhance community livelihoods here.
