As part of $99 million revenue in cargo for Fiji Airways in 2023, the company has revealed its largest agricultural export by airfreight was turmeric exports to North America that totalled 100 tonnes per week, states the company’s 2023 annual report that was tabled in Parliament on Friday.

The company’s cargo revenue went down by 24 per cent decline because of lower yields, which reflected the heightened competition as airlines resumed international flights after COVID-19.

The annual report states Fiji Airways planes carried over 29,000 tonnes of cargo into and out of Fiji.

“Our dynamic cargo business offers freight services to and from Fiji, playing a vital role in bolstering the nation’s economy,” states Fiji Airways.

The company states it handles shipments from Asia, Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the Pacific Islands.

“By facilitating trade and commerce, Fiji Airways Cargo supports local businesses, promotes economic growth, and contributes significantly to the Fijian economy.”
