A CLASSROOM block at Vunivutu Primary School in Vanua Levu which was destroyed by Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa four years ago has still not been rebuilt.

Former Vunivutu Village headwoman Ranadiniceva Raluna said the villagers have been left in a state of uncertainty.

“We are unsure whether there are any plans in place or if our pleas for help have been heard,” Ms Raluna said.

She said the authorities had not provided a clear time-line or a concrete plan for the rebuilding of the classroom block.

“Their lack of communication over the past four years has only heightened our concerns,” she said.

Ms Raluna said they feared that without official action, their needs would continue to be overlooked.

“We hope the Government listens to our plea because the previous administration didn’t.”

In response, Education Minister Aseri Radrodro said the majority of the schools destroyed by the cyclone had been attended to by bilateral partners such as Australia.

“Those who have missed out, we’re trying to get an update, from a department within the ministry, of all schools affected by the cyclone,” he said.

Mr Radrodro said they were aware the rehabilitation process has yet to be done and it was something they would attend to.
