Nasinu Masters is bracing for a vicious Vinz Works Rewa Masters team when they clash in the first semi-final of the RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Veterans Tournament Over 45s today.

The team put four goals past My Suva Legends yesterday to book its spot in the top four.

Coach, player and president Lawrence Robert said it was a crucial match that they needed to win.

He said they struggled with finishing in the start of the tournament, but the players have found their rhythm after yesterday’s win.

“We believe that tomorrow (today) we must come back firing and win,” Robert said.

The team is laced with their own former district stars that will lead the charge in the semis.

“We have equally good players in our team so we are quite confident that we will play in the final.

“When you look at our team, we’ve got Jalindar Singh who played for Nasinu, Valero Nasemo who played for Ba, Mark Rokobulki who represented Lautoka, Itesh Singh, Binesh Kumar who also played for Nasinu and Akesh Narain who played for Navua so we have a good mixture in this team,” Robert added.

Meanwhile, their opponents Rewa defeated Suva City Masters 6-0 in their final group match.

“The team is good, we have former districts and national reps in the team who will hopefully take us through to the finals,” coach Patrick Wise said.

Nasinu meets Rewa in the second semi-final at 9.30am.

In the first semi-final is between JK Nadi and Lutoka Legends at 8.30am with both matches happening at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Vatuwaqa.

The final will be played at the HFC Bank Stadium as a curtain raiser to the Battle of the Giants grand final.
