It hasn’t been an easy road to revival for the Nadi Netball Association as they face challenges in player availability and finance.

Coach and former Fiji Secondary School Netball Associations president Karalaini Seruvatu is among the few working to get the association back on its on feat.

The association joined Netball Fiji’s FinanceHub Super League this year but the process of getting a team together was a challenge.

“It’s not easy to call our girls nowadays because they are opting for other sports,” Seruvatu said.

Sports like rugby is predominantly pulling the interest of young women and girls in Nadi and other parts of the country.

“I am thankful to the current Nadi players who have come out in numbers to represent their vanua. We are also working to get some of our developed players back.”

To boost interest, Nadi Netball is holding its weekly competitions.

“We are trying to have a career path from secondary school to the main senior team. My perspective is to start from secondary school then go back to my vanua by forming a team and reviving our Nadi Netball Association,” Seruvatu added.

The former FSSNA president added that their focus is on rebuilding their association from the administration side of things to the performance of their teams.
