Fiji Latter Day Saints Primary School is on the road to reviving sports after all extra-curricular activities were halted four years ago.

The school had its internal interhouse athletics competition yesterday at the HFC Bank Stadium.

Vice-principal Panapasa Ratuvukevuke said since the COVID-19 pandemic, the school had put a break on extracurricular activities.

He said they had been slowly getting the students back on the playground when things returned to normal in the past two years.

“We have a school population of 301 students, it’s a very small school.

“After COVID-19 the extracurricular part of our school seemed to have died down but then we are in the process of reviving it,” he said.

The school management has also realised the vast talent their students have in sports.

“We hope that as we hold meets like this, we can harness the talents of our students. We have some talented students and over the years because we have a sister school — Fiji LDS Church College — we hope to build a partnership and lay the groundwork for these athletes when they go up to high school,” he added.

The school is holding its meets internally for the time being with plans of registering with a major zone.

This will allow their athletes to take part in the annual primary school athletics zone and national meets.
