Ba FC head coach Daniel Krishneel has issued a stern warning to his players after a disappointing 0-1 loss against Nasinu in the Digicel Premier League last weekend.

Krishneel expressed his frustration, saying the team’s performance last week was unacceptable.

“It was a disappointing result for Nasinu to be beating us on our home soil.

“I must ask myself, am I a good coach. Is there something lacking in me, or where do I fall short. I go back and analyse.”

Ba FC is grouped in Pool A of the Rooster Chicken/Scoop Ice Cream Battle of the Giants tournament alongside Suva, Rewa and Nadroga.

Krishneel said players in Fiji were paid and they should be responsible for their individual fitness and put in effort in their performance on and off the field.

“Football in Fiji, everyone is paid. All these players are being paid, they should look after themselves. It’s not the coach’s duty to make them fit. They should come fit, and coaches work on tactical analysis,” he said.

“These players should take ownership. During coaching from Monday to Sunday, I do my best, but on game day, these boys don’t perform.”

Krishneel did not mince his words in his assessment, urging players to take responsibility.

“It’s hard words but these players have to pull up their socks,” Krishneel said.

Looking ahead, Krishneel stressed the importance of consistency and reiterated his commitment to the team while calling for the players to step up.

“I’m trying my best to give my best in coaching, but these boys, they are not taking the ownership. They don’t know the meaning of this black jersey. So, it’s a stern warning to the players, whether they shape up or shift out.”
