Impacts of Climate Change affecting Fiji and other Pacific Island nations would be discussed at this week’s PALM 10 meeting in Tokyo, Japan.
While the Japanese Government has assisted many back home with various aid to help cushion impacts, officials have informed the Pacific media this morning that 14 leaders are in Tokyo for the meeting including Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka who will arrive this evening.
The Senior Deputy Director for Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iwasaki Ryuji said this meeting was last held in 2018 and forging stronger ties with Fiji and the Pacific remained a priority.
“Palm meeting started in 1997 and due to longtime relationship thee Japanese Government wants to promote this and we ask that the media help the people in the Pacific understand this.”
