FORMER FijiFirst MP and independent member of Parliament Jone Usamate has reiterated his support for Prime Minister and the Coalition Government.
During the budget debate in Parliament on Wednesday, he said he would fight against and oppose anything that he believed does not address the needs of the people.
“In my current capacity as an independent member of Parliament, I am prepared to support the Prime Minister, to support the Government on issues brought up by the Government that I believe is in the best interest of this country,” Mr Usamate said.
“But I will fight against and oppose anything that I believe does not address our needs and is against the best interests of this country.
“While this budget has a lot of very good aspects there, it has also many underlying weaknesses.
“And this is for that reason that I cannot fully support this budget.”
He said everyone expect the Government to do well.
“Fiji needs government to do well. I need government to do well. Everybody on this side needs government to do well. We all need it.
“We want you to do well. You determine the way forward.”
