Our commitment to combating drug trafficking is not merely an obligation; it is a testament to our shared values and determination.
While addressing the Namosi Provincial Council meeting, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakeo Ganivatu urged members to work together to alleviate the illicit drug trade and its influence in the country.
“It’s not something that we should be required to do, we should do that out of sheer will, our love, and our dedication to this country,” Mr Ganivatu said.
“It portrays our value to the rest of the world — value for our culture, our tradition, our country, and our way of life.
“It signifies the importance of protecting those values from being influenced by such issues.
“And when illicit drugs infiltrate the rural environment, it will change our way of life.”
Mr Ganivatu has reminded members of the council to encourage collaboration between the province and the police in eradicating the drug trade in Fiji.
“Not all officers are bad, there are some rotten potatoes, and we are committed to plucking them out of the organisation.
“The law is for everyone, no one is above the law,” he said.
