Any Team Fiji athlete who wins a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be rewarded $50,000.
This is part of the Olympic Games incentive approved by Cabinet during their meeting earlier this week.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka made the announcement during the Farewell Celebration for Olympic athletes at the Civic Centre in Suva yesterday.
“Cabinet has agreed that a medal incentive finally be established with cash reward from gold medal to be set at $50,000, silver medal at $20,000 and bronze at $10,000,” he said.
This means that in a team, each member including the players, coach and management will receive a cash reward.”
The PM also assured that the funding for this incentive is covered in the 2024-2025 budget.
PM Rabuka also wished all the Team Fiji athletes the very best as preparations continue for the Paris Olympic Games.
